History
Founded in Winnipeg in 1983, The Rainbow Society is a non-profit,
charitable organization dedicated to fulfilling the favourite dreams
of Manitoba children suffering from a life-threatening illness.
Over the last 25 years The Rainbow Society has made dreams come
true for over 460 Manitoba children. The goal of the Rainbow Society
is to say "yes" to every single dream child. We
are not a government or United Way funded agency, therefore we rely
on the generous support of the Manitoba community to help make these
dreams come true. We are a Manitoba-based organization so all
money raised in Manitoba stays in our province to help our children.
The specific dreams are as wonderful and as varied as the children
themselves. Some dreams are easily arranged while others are much
more challenging to coordinate. The most popular dream is to visit
Mickey and Minnie Mouse in Disney World. Other dreams range from
meeting a favourite celebrity, to enjoying a new computer or entertainment
centre, to welcoming a new family pet.
The Rainbow Society serves families from all corners of Manitoba. Dream referrals are received from medical professionals and/or
support services, or from a child's family or friends (see Refer
a Child).
